People diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) tend to experience irregular periods, lighter-than-normal bleeding, and/or frequent spotting. These symptoms are aggravating and, more often than not, traditional period products just don’t cut it. Using a tampon when spotting, for instance, can cause irritation or even vaginal microabrasions (which is why they should not be used for light bleeding).
The good news is, many of our customers have PCOS and swear by Flex products to manage their unpredictable cycles. Menstrual discs, like Flex Disc, Flex Plant+ Disc, or Flex Reusable Disc, are a great alternative to tampons and pads. They’re made with medical-grade materials that glide in and out easily no matter how heavy or light your flow. Plus, they can be worn for up to 12 hours at a time. When inserted correctly, you shouldn’t be able to feel your disc at all.
Menstrual cups, like Flex Cup, are also 100% safe to use with PCOS. It all comes down to personal preference and your own unique anatomy. Every body is different, so you may find that one works out a bit better for you than the other.
